The lower secondary consists of Year 1 and Year 2. In the first two years, students are placed in mixed-ability groups, meaning students from different levels (VMBO-b, VMBO-k, and VMBO-t) are in the same class. Only in upper secondary do students follow education at one specific level.
Of course, not everyone is the same. At Nuenens College, we understand this very well. That’s why, in Year 1, students choose a route that aligns with their talents and interests. They can choose from the lower secondary routes Green, Sports, Arts, or Discover.
Get to know ‘green’ topics, such as the plant and animal kingdom, growing food, and everything related to our environment. Sustainability is an important topic. Naturally, we go on excursions regularly.
This route is ideal for students who love spending time on the sports field. Our students get to know new sports (trends) and receive lessons in various team sports. Of course, there’s plenty of time to get active.
Get creative in the arts profile. In this lower secondary route, students explore art in its broadest sense. They learn to draw and paint, and also dive into photography, theater, dance, graphic design, and makeup artistry.
A world full of wonder with much to discover! Our students engage in exploratory learning and come up with their own research questions. They tackle these questions creatively, working with computers or crafting things by hand.
